A chapter from my memoir, The
Last Storyteller, has been chosen
by the Creative Nonfiction Panel at
the South Atlanta Modern
Language Association to be read
during their conference Nov. 5-7.
The chapter is titled "The Time of
Perfect Mud Pies."
NEWS!
Would love to hear from you!
SUCCESS!
On June 19, I moderated a panel on publishing, "The Many Paths to Publishing," with two representatives from Woodland Press, Michael knost and Brian Hatcher; Cathy Teets, from Headline books, and Abby Freeland, from West Virginia University Press. The panel of experts spoke about what their presses looked for in submissions and answered many of the Standing Room Only attendees' questions. Thanks to these folks for stellar presentations!

the state. The board members comprise
honest, hard-working, talented
volunteers from throughout the state to
bring an annual contest (awarding a total
of $6,000 each year) and a yearly
conference held at Cedar Lakes, near
Ripley, WV, each 2nd weekend of June.
Check it out at wvwriters.org!
Become a member for only $20/year and
receive a print newsletter, an
e-newsletter and early notice of good
things to come in the literary arts.
Consider entering the contest, which
opens January 1, 2011. And watch the
group's web site for upcoming teasers of
presenters at next year's conference.
We're on Twitter and Facebook, too!
My thanks to readers from Seeking
the Swan, the latest anthology of
previous WVW, inc. contest
winners, who read at Taylor Books
June 23. They are: Geoff Fuller,

Fabulous job, guys!
